Outlaw Star's protagonist, Gene is a firey Outlaw. Tall, encredibly skinny, but not without muscle; he is a sight to see. Since his father's tragic death when he was 14, Gene has had to make it on his own on the rough-and-tumble planet of Sentinal III. And make it he did. He co-owns a company, Starwind and Hawking. They bill themselves as being able to fix any problem. With the intelligence of his young assistant Jim, and Gene's own marksmanship skills; Starwind and Hawking is ready to take on any challenge. Thanks to the small amount of money from that venture, Gene is able to maintain his Outlaw lifestyle. Guns, girls, and booze. It would seem to have always been that way for Gene. He has no problem with sleeping around; and often successfully woes ladies he has just met (and Fred...). But that all changed when he was hired as a body guard by the infamous Outlaw, Hot Ice Hilda. No longer could he lounge about, half drunk, waiting for dinner. No. Despite his fear of space travel, he was thrown head-first into a world of blood-thirsty super-powers and a mystery for all time. Now in his possesion is a ship capable of finding the Galactic Leyline, a bio-android girl whom he had promised to help find her purpose, and a few enemies from hell. Among those enemies are the Kei Pirates and his father's killers. Gene now has responsibility. But he does not buckle. By the end of the series he has truly been changed by his experiances. He seems to have undergone a bit of reform and finally excepted his position as leader of his little group.
